LaSalle via Lakeshore
Anthony Iaquinta is moving up from head coach of the reigning champion Lakeshore Canadiens of the Provincial Jr. C Hockey League to the LaSalle Vipers of the Greater Ontario Jr. Hockey League as their new bench boss.
Iaquinta had been with Lakeshore for six years, winning two championships in the process.
And Mark Seguin, the general manager in Lakeshore, took note of Iaquinta’s ascent to the next level of the game.
“We thank Anthony and wish him continued success in the next step of his journey … this is a well-deserved appointment,” Sequin relayed.
Iaquinta commented on the move from Lakeshore to nearby LaSalle.
“I am excited to start this new challenge with the LaSalle Vipers. It feels great to come back to where I grew up. My time with the Lakeshore Canadiens was unbelievable. I am thankful to Mark Seguin for taking a chance on me and for his unwavering support and mentorship.”
Meanwhile, Vipers general manager John Nelson gave his view on bringing Iaquinta to LaSalle.
“I am excited to work with Anthony. He’s an excellent person with a likeable personality,” Nelson began. “Anthony and his staff will hold the players accountable, continue to create an excellent environment and more importantly he’s a stand up person with a great coaching resume.”
Notably, the 36-year old Iaquinta was a defenseman for LaSalle during his playing days.
Iaquinta will bring assistant coach brings Milan Dobric with him from Lakeshore to LaSalle.
