They are spitting fire. The Spitfires continued their sparkling start to the season on Saturday with a 5-1 road verdict over the Brantford Bulldogs.

Windsor now has a record of 4-0-1 for nine points and is tied for first place in the Western Conference of the Ontario Hockey League. The Spitfires finished 19th in the 20-team OHL in ’23-24 with a record of 18-42-8.

Five different skaters scored goals for the Spitfires in the win over Brantford as Ryan Abraham, A.J. Spellacy, Ilya Protas, Cole Davis and Jack Nesbitt all hit the net. Captain Liam Greentree added three assists.

Veteran goalie Joey Costanzo made 26 saves for Windsor and now has a record of 4-0-0 with a 1.74 goals against average and .943 save percentage on the season.

UP NEXT: The Spitfires are on the road on Oct. 11-12 for games at Brampton and Erie. They are home again on Monday, Oct. 14 for a 2:05 p.m. Thanksgiving Day matinee against the Oshawa Generals.

ICE CHIPS: Defenseman Anthony Cristoforo leads the Spitfires with a +15 rating. He also has one goal, seven assists, eight points in five games …  Liam Greentree leads the Spitfire scoring chart with nine points, including two goals … Rookie Ethan Belchetz and second year forward Jack Nesbitt lead the Spits with four goals apiece.
