18 wins for the Spitfires
What a difference one season can make. The Spitfires skated past the visiting Saginaw Spirit on Wednesday for their 18th win of the ’24-25 Ontario Hockey League season.
Windsor’s fourth straight victory boosted its record to 18-5-2. The Spitfires won only 18 of 68 games in ’23-24 and finished in 19th place among the 20 teams of the OHL and missed the playoffs.
The 7-2 drubbing by the Spitfires of Saginaw featured two goals from both Ryan Abraham and Ilya Protas and solo tallies from Liam Greentree, Owen Outwater and rookie Ethan Belchetz.
Protas now has 15 goals on the season while Greentree has 14, Abraham has 10, Belchetz has eight and Outwater has five.
Defenseman Carson Woodall clicked for a pair of assists and workhorse goalie Joey Costanzo made 31 saves for his 15th win of the season.
