The ’23-24 Ontario Hockey League season is becoming a distant past for the Spitfires. Windsor, which missed the OHL playoffs in ’23-24 with a record of 18-42-8, boosted its ’24-25 mark to 15-5-2 on Thursday with a 2-1 home ice win over the Barrie Colts.

Fourth line forward Ethan Martin, with his second goal of the season, and ace defender Anthony Cristoforo, with his fifth, took care of the scoring for the Spitfires, who got 22 saves from Joey Costanzo while out chancing and out playing the visitors from Barrie.

On the down side, the Spitfire power play sputtered, going 0-7 with the man advantage.

Next up for Windsor is a road match against the Kitchener Rangers tonight. The Spitfires are then home to the Ottawa 67’s on Saturday in a 7:05 p.m. opening face-off at the WFCU Center. Manny Paiva will have the radio play by play of both games on AM 800 CKLW.
